Contributors we missed (we love you)

Now that we’ve gotten a little sleep we want to make corrections to a few contributor notes that accidentally got missed .  Sure there were some other mistakes and thats just a unique piece of the experience  and the really crazy hectic pace of making a magazine in that short of time (believe me, the last 2 hours were not the “fun” part of the experience).  We relish those mistakes as the imperfections that defines the experience of the magazine.  However, missing any contributors is not that type of mistake and its one that makes us very sad.  We will be doing what we can do to fix that, and for now we will start with listing some of them here.  To those below, truly accept our apologies.  You made this magazine a success.

  • The article on p.32 was written by Sam Mulkay (see, we even forgot ourselves!)
  • The model on p. 33 is Noémie Debacker.
  • Art on p. 35 was done by Wannes Lecompte
  • Dance on p.44 was choreographed and performed by Natasha Henry
  • Photos on p.44 were taken by Erik Dupont
  • Makeup for the photos on p.52 was done by Jennifer Cleal.
  • Shoes for the photos on p.52 were provided by Mlle François
  • The article and photos on p.62 were by Sheryl Cababa
  • Model on p.75 and p.81 is Sophie Tran
  • Photos on p. 75 and p.81 were taken by Gee Kayacan
  • Clothing for the photos on p.82 was provided by Y-Dress
  • The final list of contributors should include:  Karin Elizabeth, Sheryl Cababa, and Ellen Deketele.

Thank you again everyone!!!

Today is a 24Hour Day

The day is here!  Starting at 3pm (Central Europe Time) the clock will start on 24Hour Magazine.  We have a team of nearly 50 people, energy drinks, coffee, beer, and bbq.   Come to this site through out the 24Hours to see live video, blog and twitter updates, and chances for you to put thoughts and pictures in the magazine.  For now, here are some pictures from our 24Hours Headquarters.

Social Media, Not just for Revolutions!

We are not contesting any election results here at 24Hour Magazine but we too believe in the power of social media. Ok, our belief in social media isn’t exactly revolutionary (pun intended) but we would like to share with you how 24H Magazine we be using it.

24H on Twitter - We have a twitter site (@24hourmagazine) where we currently provide updates and teasers about the planning process. Then on the 24H DAY, the account will be set up to retweet (retwit? retweat?) all of our contributors so you can follow the whole team’s progress through out the day.

24H on Facebook - We have a group on Facebook and we have set up an online event so you have a reminder to check in with us during the day for all the updates and live video. Those that join the group will also receive an update when the printed version is available for sale.

24H on Flickr - In our Flickr group, we will provide behind the scenes pictures, samples from the photo shoots, and a chance for you to submit photos of your 24 hour day (some might even make it in the magazine!).

24H on Vimeo - Through out the 24H DAY, as well as afterwards, we will be posting small videos on Vimeo of all the fun, craziness, and hardwork, along with some interviews. (For those that don’t know Vimeo, think YouTube with good quality)

This Blog - and of course, here at 24HourMagazine.com, we will continue to update the blog before during and after the event. During the event, you will see the website change from this basic look to one that reflects the magazine design. We will also be posting background stories, sneak peaks at the evolution of the cover. Follow the RSS Feed for all updates.

Start following us now for all the fun and excitement.

How can YOU help?

One of the best things about creating the 24Hour Magazine project is the excitement we have heard from everyone we describe it to. So many people wanted to contribute in any way they could, we actually had to turn people down. Especially amazing when you consider everyone (including yours truly) is volunteering for this project.

And still we have people asking if there is anything they can do. Well, the answer is YES.  There are two big ways we can use your enthusiasm:

  • Tell the World! or at least some people you know.  Do you have a twitter account?  follow @24hourmagazine, suggest others follow, and retweet us.  Invite your Facebook friends to join our Facebook group or invite them our online viewing party.  Do you have a blog?  Write about us this week and include information how (see “follow us” in the right column) and when (June 27th 3pm to June 28th 3pm).  We have a press page at 24hourmagazine.com/press which you are free to reprint and send to others.  We are happy to speak with the press, and would love to do some interviews in the middle of the 24Hours. (for example a midday radio interview in the US would allow them to speak to us at 3AM our time at the height of the insanity)
  • Sponsors and Advertising. With everyone volunteering, our costs are very low (actually, its the otherway around - because our money is low, everyone is volunteering) but we still need to print the magazine (surprisingly expensive) and cover some small operating costs (like feeding and caffinating our volunteers).  If you know anyone or any company that would be interested in sponsoring or advertising with 24Hour Magazine, please put them in touch with us right away.   For advertisers, any ad in the magazine would have to follow the rules of 24Hour Magazine, i.e. be original content created during the 24Hours.  For advertisers that can’t meet this requirement, we have several creative ideas to include thier premade ads outside of the magazine but still distributed with the magazine or included in videos.

Isn’t this Website a Little Basic?

Wondering why this website looks so plain?  We’re designing a magazine, right?  We should have a fancy design as a preview to what the magazine will be like?

Well, thats the beauty of 24Hour Magazine- We don’t know what the magazine will be like.  We know we have top designers, editors, and contributors so it will be cool, we just don’t know what kinda of cool.

Therefore, this website will evolve during the 24 Hours just like the magazine.  Along with contant updates to the blog, we will be updating the look of the website to reflect the evolution of the magazine.  All the more reason to tune in on June 27th and June 28th (including live video feeds, twitter updates - @24hourmagazine, and more).

Make sure to add this RSS feed to keep up to date.
