1 Day. 1 Magazine. Start to Finish. Scratch to Print.
24Hour Magazine
24Hour Magazine is both a magazine and a moment. It revels in both the end product and the single day it takes to get there. It is as much about the experience as the paper it’s printed on. It will combine the youthful stamina of a college all nighter with the professional focus of creating a commercial magazine. Imagine both a long day at work and a late night party. 24 Hours, from nothing to everything, start to finish, scratch to print.
The Facts. So what are the bare facts of 24Hour Magazine? The bottom line is it will be created by a team of designers, photographers, writers and artists in a single 24 hour period. 24H DAY will start at 3pm (Central Europe Time), June 27th and end 3pm June 28th. Before that time, there will be nothing more than plans, ideas and enthusiasm. At the end of that time, we will have a final magazine, completed and ready for the printing press. Not a single picture or word in 24Hour Magazine will have existed before June 27th. No design or layout will be created before June 27th. It will all come together on that one single day.
The Shared Experience. And since the experience plays such an important role, the 24H TEAM will be sharing that day’s experience with the world by making all of the fun and the drama accessible through a variety of social media and other online avenues. We will have live video feeds from 24H HEADQUARTERS, twitter updates by the 24H TEAM, continuous blog posts, and a behind the scenes Flickr stream. After the 24H DAY, the experience will be made real to readers through videos documenting the full experience of making the magazine.
The End Product. As for the magazine itself, it will be in the vein of the lifestyle, fashion, music and design magazines which all seem to cross pollinate ideas but maintain their own balance. 24Hour Magazine will consist of fashion editorials, interviews, topical articles, and reviews. As a project conceived by photographers and graphic designers, visual impact will play a distinct and up front role.
The Availability. Upon completion, readers will be able to order a printed copy of 24Hour Magazine online and through select local bookstores. Preordering will be available soon on the website.
The Creators. Tuffer Harris (www.tuffer.com) is an attorney by day and aspiring fashion photographer all the rest of the time. He is also a magazine junkie with a passion and addiction to magazines that goes back to his youth. Previously he created another magazine project, Donut Magazine (www.donutmagazine.com) focusing on the creativity in everything. With a permanent home in Seattle, he moved to Brussels for a year where he met Sam Mulkay. Sam is a project manager and fellow photography enthusiast. He also has an uncanny ability to get things done and get people excited about a project. Just days after Tuffer described his latest idea for a magazine project, Sam had lined up a team of people to get it done, a location to use, and voila, 24Hour Magazine began its life.
